Pray to survive tough times

We live in a world which has experienced and continues to experience tough times. Economically we have experienced the Global Financial Crisis and the meltdown of European countries economies with billions of dollars of bailout. Now governments have brought in austerity measures to pay back debt.

Many Australians have experienced the impact of floods and cyclones which have washed away property and crops and lives have been tragically lost.

We have seen many people’s marriages break down, some who have been married over 25 years. Others have suffered accidents and diseases like cancer that have robbed people and families of loved ones.

None of us can stand to see our children/grandchildren suffer, however, and when we do, we want to rush in and fix everything.  Some have mortgaged their homes to bail out children and grandchildren!

While we don’t want them to suffer needlessly or be injured, ruined or destroyed, we must ask God for wisdom and discernment about the best way to help. Sometimes our children and grandchildren have to learn a hard lesson.

Whatever befalls our children, we need to know that no situation is so sevre that the power of God can’t move in it or bring a person back from trouble to a life or restoration and blessing.

Help may not come straight away but, through your praying, God can move mountains and turn any situation around.

We know that “All things can work together for good” (Romans 8:28) and “God is able to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine”(Ephesians 3;20).

Lord, help my child/grandchild .............. to see that You are their defender when they go through tough times. I pray that they will look to You to be their help (psalm 121:1,2).  I pray that they will seek your wisdom and follow it so that they may get through and be an overcomer. Help them not to lose heart or turn their back on you as they go through the tough times. Help them to believe that You have a solution that will sustain them and get them past the obstacles that they face. No matter what happens, I pray that they may ultimately see the good than You can bring our of the troubles and difficulties. Grant them your peace as they walk through the storms. Keep them safe. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Pray that they will walk into the future that God has for them

I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.  Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you.  You will seek me, and you will find me because you will seek me with all your heart.(Jeremiah 29:11-13)

The Lord God has a plan and purpose for everyone that He has created. Part of that plan is for people to discover His love through His Son Jesus. He wants to help them deal with any brokenness caused by their sin or other people’s sin. He wants all people to be saved so that their destiny can be fulfilled in Jesus. He wants people to personally know their God.

Then He wants people to discover their eternal destiny. This destiny is to fulfil God’s purpose for His Kingdom. This destiny is based in God’s purposes for the whole world. Thus the destiny has global considerations and is not merely based in the church.

God’s destiny includes business and economy; health; education; media; the arts to name a few. God’s destiny is formed in you through every experience, good and bad, to forge you into the person you need to be and strategically place you where you need to be. It is formed over a person’s lifetime.

Our task is to pray for God’s Kingdom purposes to be revealed to your child/grandchild and then pray that it will become a reality for them.

Lord God I pray that you reveal your Kingdom purposes to my my child/grandchild ..............  I pray that those who are not believers will become believers in Jesus as Lord and Saviour and commit their whole life to Jesus and His mission in the world.  I pray that they will grasp how much they are loved by God and how big is His plans for them. I pray that they will fulfil their eternal destiny and so become world changers for God. I pray that they will have the courage to make the sacrifices necessary to fulfil their God given destiny.  I pray that they will continually seek Your Presence and Guidance for every step that they make to fulfil their destiny. In Jesus name. Amen.
