Pray for financial stability

We are facing troubling financial times. More and more families are struggling to meet their debts, some of which have ballooned out due to the economic times and some because they have made poor financial decisions over committing themselves.

Some families have relied upon parents/grandparents to help them. Some have mortgaged their homes to help pay the children’s debt.  Some have not taught their children good financial practice. Others have failed to understand whether their children are naturally spenders or savers.

Financial stability is an important need for family health and well being. Financial problems are one of the biggest mental health issues for families.

God will use the financial difficulties to grab our attention. God will help us whether we are a victim of circumstances or we made bad decisions. God will sort out the financial mess but it will take time and it will require our repentance and our obedience to follow God’s solution for our financial issues.

Lord, help my child/grandchild .............. to commit their finances to You. Help them to manage their money so that their future can be secure. Where my child/grandchild is having financial problems, I pray that you will turn it around. Help them to accept correction and instruction so that they will avoid poverty and embarrassment. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I speak God’s blessing of provision and financial stability upon ..........

Pray to avoid all sexual pollution and temptation

We live in a world where sex is “in your face”. In the past novels like Lady Chatterley’s lover stormed onto the scene of public life. Sex was a hot topic and it now had crept from under the counter. Magazines had moved from women dressed scantily to women with their bodies semi naked.

Movies had moved from leaving much to your imagination through a kiss to full on naked bed room scenes that left nothing to the imagination!

In the past, we have seen children now used as pornographic subjects as paedophiles swap their pictorial trophies. Now there is access to numerous websites that offer a whole range of sexual “treats” to those willing to pay.

Now we have seen 10,11 year old children willing to text their naked bodies to their friends, only to see it go viral over the internet.

We will only see the consequences of our sexed up society in the years to come.

Temptation is everywhere and a sneak peek can lead to a slippery slope of addiction and even marital breakdown.

John writes in his first letter “For all that is in the world –the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of this world. (! John 2:16)

While nothing might have changed and sexual pollution has been around a long time, those who get caught find their life unravel and be destroyed.

Our task is to pray so that the people we love do not get tempted.

Lord, help my child/grandchild .............. to walk away from sexual temptation. Give them conviction to change channels; shut down websites; throw out magazines and DVDs and turn their backs on all forms of sexual perversion. Help them to remain pure and faithful in their relationships.  Protect them, dear Lord, from the sexual subtleties of the Evil One.  Where ever there has been any moral failure, give them a heart of repentance so that they may turn away and be forgiven.

I pray for the breaking down of the idols of sexual promiscuity, pornography, perversion, sensuality and immorality in the media, motion pictures and our land. I pray especially that my adult (teenage) children (grandchildren) will not be tempted, trapped, swayed or polluted by it.
